Good morning, Medford, Wednesday, July 1
We're talking about a little bit of everything this morning: the Tartan Army and the Scottish soccer fans; the heat wave that is hitting today; a couple of did-you-knows; and a list of what's happening in Medford today.
Let's talk about the heat. Temperatures are forecast to be off the charts today and through the weekend. Just as you would for a snowstorm, there are some things to do for safety sake and for community sake:
- Check on your elderly neighbors and those with disabilities who may not be able to easily get to a cooling center.
- Do not walk your dog on the hot pavement. The pads on their paws can burn and blister.
- Be mindful that many people have to work outside even when the temperature is 100 degrees. People in public safety, construction, landscaping, and other industries don't have the luxury of staying home when the weather is bad.
Medford will have cooling centers available for anyone who needs to get out of the heat.
