We're jumping right in with the scoop on a school fundraiser and a new recovery group the city started offering earlier this month.

The Roberts Elementary PTO native plant fundraiser is an annual event that helps fund enrichment programs, events, and classroom resources for students. It includes online and in-person shopping. The online sales are closing on May 28. However, you can also purchase plants during in-person sale hours at the school Friday, May 29, from 2:30 to 4 p.m., and Saturday, May 30, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The fundraiser is held in partnership with Medford Medians Pollinator Project, the goal of which is "to transform road medians into vibrant pollinator habitats using native plants." The website has information about the projects, pollinators, plants, and ways to get involved.

Yesterday, the mayor’s office announced the launch of a Veterans and First Responders Recovery Group, which meets Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Medford.

Sponsored by the Veterans Services and Public Health departments, the group will be led by the city's recovery coach, Chris Summa, and is open to all veterans and first responders. All are welcome on a drop-in basis.

Chris Summa can be reached at csumma@medford-ma.gov or 617-293-0008.

Here are a few of the plants available for purchase online for the Roberts Elementary PTO native plant fundraiser. Online sales close on May 28. The in-person sales are happening at the school Friday and Saturday, May 29-30.
