We've got some details for you this morning about two events coming up, the Back to School Resource Day and National Night Out.

The Resource Day isn't until August 24, but we're mentioning it now because if you read the fine print on the flyer above, you'll see that Medford students who register by August 17 will receive a free hair cut and a free backpack filled with school supplies. The event will also have community resources and kids activities.

If you're interested in helping to fill those backpacks, the city's School Supply Drive is happening through August 17. Here is the basic information about the supplies the schools need and about how you can donate them:

National Night Out, on the other hand, is just around the corner. It's taking place August 4, from 5 to 8 p.m., at Hormel Stadium, and the Medford Police Department has released the details.

"We’ll have activities for kids of all ages, including a K9 demonstration, touch-a-truck, football throw/baseball pitch booth, lawn games, face painting, over 60 local vendor booths and so much more! We are also excited to have Razor's Barbershop giving FREE haircuts," MPD posted to Facebook.

Paw Patrol and superhero characters will be on hand for pictures, and there will be demonstrations by Jody’s School of Dance and Xtreme Ninja Martial Arts and a performance by Mystic Players Revival.

The entire event is free, including the food:

  • sausages from Medford’s own Bianco & Sons
  • hamburgers and hot dogs from Wegmans
  • grab-and-go meals from Nutre Meals
  • Richie’s Slush cups
  • frozen treats from a classic ice cream truck

Now, here's a look at what's happening today, everything from the Retirement Board meeting to Dungeons and Dragons for teens.
