Good morning, Medford, Tuesday, April 28
Happy Tuesday, everyone. It's going to be a beautiful day in Medford. We've got a shout-out for some youth who pitched in to help kids in need, some reasons to tune in to the City Council meeting tonight, and all the Medford happenings at your fingertips.
Youth from St. Raphael's Parish in Medford will be recognized by the City Council tonight for their volunteer and fundraising work for the Mass. Coalition for the Homeless (MCH) "A Bed for Every Child" program.
As part of the organization's "Unsung Heroes from Your Community" initiative, MCH Executive Director Robyn Frost sent a letter recently to City Council President Zac Bears explaining that the youth exceeded their fundraising goal and then helped build 18 beds for children.
On its website, MCH explains that the program's mission is "simple yet essential: provide beds to children in need in hopes of improving their quality of life and chances of success in the classroom."
Tonight, the City Council will introduce a resolution to commend and celebrate the 18 St. Raphael youth volunteers for their work.
If you haven't been to a City Council meeting lately, or if you haven't at least watched via TV or YouTube, this resolution alone makes tonight's meeting a good one to attend in some fashion. But, also, there are a number of important issues on the agenda.
You can see below in the list of today's happenings that there are a number of items to be discussed tonight, including ones that will have fiscal impacts. And, the council will discuss a resolution to file a public records request to get a comprehensive report on all the litigation the city has faced from 2020 to the present.
You don't have to wish you could be a fly on the wall. You can be right there for the discussions and any decisions that are made, decisions that will affect you and your family.
