We've got everything from the Medford Police Relief Association Memorial Service for Deceased Members to the 4th annual Medford PorchFest.
Happy Tuesday, everybody. You can tell summer is coming because outdoor events and activities are ramping up in Medford. We've got a number of things to give you a heads-up on this morning.
But, first, we want to let you know about a Medford Police Relief Association event. On Friday, May 15, at 10 a.m. in Oak Grove Cemetery, the association will host the 2026 Memorial Service for the Deceased Members and will dedicate the new Medford Police Memorial. All are welcome to attend.
Also, don't forget that Main streets sweeping runs through October 31 between the hours of 12:01 and 7 a.m. There is no parking on the affected streets during that time. Here is the schedule:

There are too many events and activities happening in Medford this summer to list them all here, but these are a few to put on your radar:
- Medford Porchfest is in its fourth year. The event is June 6, but the deadline for hosts and performers to sign up is May 15. Here is the event description, as listed on the website: "Porchfest is a day of free music performed outside of people's homes – on porches, patios, driveways, and lawns. It's a celebration of music and community..."
- Medford Softball registrations open today and run through May 25. The season runs June-August. Register at MedfordYouthGirlsSoftball.org.
- Medford Recreation Department runs many programs for kids throughout the summer. Browse the online calendar.
- Medford Farmers Market starts up again on June 4 and has several events planned: Summer Fun, June 25; Bike Fest, July 30; Dog Days, August 27, Apple Fest, October 1.

Senior Center events and activities include ChairFit Rhythms at 9:30 a.m., Knit and Crochet at 10 a.m., Core and Balance at 10:30 a.m., International Culture at 1 p.m., and a workshop at 1 p.m. with Attorney Dale Tamburro on the legal benefits of trusts.

Skill Issues for Teens at at 3:30 p.m. at Medford Public Library for teens in middle school and high school to learn new life skills, from sewing a button to managing finances. Registration required.
1st-Grade Book Club at 3:30 p.m. at Medford Public Library. This month's selection is "Julia's House for Lost Creatures," by Ben Hatke.
Medford School Committee - Public Budget Hearing at 5 p.m. via Zoom, TV, and streaming channels. Community members will be able to comment on the superintendent's proposed FY2027 operating budget.
Food, Drinks, and 90s Vinyl from 5 to 8 p.m. at Tamper Cafe.
Traffic Commission meeting at 5 p.m. via Zoom. Agenda includes: amendment of permit parking rules and regulations regarding lost/stolen visitor passes; replacement of several visitor passes; and several other parking-related requests.

City Council Committee of the Whole meeting at 6 p.m. at City Hall, via Zoom, on TV, and via live streams. On the agenda: FY2027 budgets for assessor, facilities, insurance, Worker's Compensation, bonds and interest - GF and water, and pension.
Fiber Craft Night with Kate from 6 to 8 p.m. at Medford Public Library for adults and teens 16+ to work on fiber craft projects. All skill levels welcome. An expert will be available to answer questions.
Community Preservation Committee meeting at 6 p.m. in City Hall and via Zoom. On the agenda: an off-cycle application, project updates, and review ad approval of the draft annual plan.
Marvelous Meatless Meals with Leslie Cerier via Zoom from 7 to 8:15 p.m. Webinar will include recipes, tips, and a Q&A. Presented by Medford Public Library in collaboration with other area libraries. Sign up.
Tuesday Night Book Group from 7 to 8:45 p.m. at Medford Public Library. This month's book is "The Women," by Kristin Hannah. Register.
City Council meeting at 7 p.m. at City Hall, via Zoom, TV, and streaming channels. On the agenda: Committee reports, a hearing on the Community Development Block Grant action plan for FY2027; proposed vacant building ordinance; communications from the mayor regarding a Medford Square redevelopment project grant, appropriation for Fire Department capital improvements, wage adjustment for non-union personnel, and an amendment to the Personnel Ordinance regarding assistant network administrator.
Trivia Night at Medford Brewing from 7 to 9 p.m.
Backstrap Weaving Workshop (first of 2 sessions) from 7 to 9 p.m. at Arts Collaborative Medford for ages 12+ with an adult. All materials will be provided. Registration required.
