Rumors of Kappy's demise are greatly exaggerated
Medford store manager reassures customers that it's the same Kappy's they've come to expect.
The building on Revere Beach Parkway is being sold, but in the meantime, Medford Kappy's manager Jim Williams says, the store is open for business as it always has been.
"Nothing has changed," he said.
In fact, the sale of the building is not imminent. It will probably be 18-24 months from now, Williams said.
"We will be staying in Medford," he said. "We're looking at multiple locations now."
When people found out the building was being sold, some thought Kappy's had closed, so Williams took to social media to reassure customers. He posted on Facebook, "I want to make one thing clear to all of Medford. WE ARE NOT CLOSING. We love being a part of this town and this community."
A family business
Willams has been with the Medford Kappy's for three years, but he's been with the company for 15. He took his first job with the company working in the bottle redemption area when he was 15 years old. Over the years, he said, he worked his way up.
Williams said he loves working in Medford. Not only does he have several family members working with him, but he also considers the community his family.
"My love for the company and the town has kept me here," he said.
Kappy's tasting classroom is also still open and gives customers an opportunity to meet the brewer, the winemaker, or the distiller. Tickets are $10 to $15 per person depending on the event.
