A little before midnight last night, as I was finishing this newsletter, the 2nd Middlesex state Senate primary race had not been called. We were still waiting on the results from Cambridge.
However, the 34th Middlesex state representative primary race had been. The Associated Press called it for Somerville City Councilor At-Large Will Mbah shortly after 10 p.m.
Mbah was at his post-election celebration at Winter Hill Brewing in Somerville when Gotta Know Medford reached him by phone. He talked about the work of campaigning and having people in both Medford and Somerville embrace him. The whole experience of campaigning and then winning the primary, he said, was extremely humbling.
We will have more details for you on both of these races.

Senior Center Activities: Tech and MBTA support at 9 a.m. – call to reserve your spot, 781-396-6010; zumba gold at 10 a.m.; Thai chi at 11 a.m.; bingo at 1 p.m.; movie at 1 p.m.;
- Memory Cafe, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., offers information, support, activities and social engagement for people (and their families) living with memory changes. Today, there will be a sing-along with Chuck. There will also be resources and information for caregivers.
- Cooking with chef John Depascale, of Atria Living of Medford, at 1:30 p.m. Today's dish will be fall-themed apple cranberry. Call 781-396-6010 to reserve your spot.
Medford Square Runners meet at 6:45 a.m. in front of Donuts with a Difference for a 5-6-mile run. This is a zero-drop run, meaning the group runs for a little bit and then stops to let everybody catch up if necessary. Group asks that all runners are able to keep a minimum pace of 10 minutes per mile.

Sisters in Sweat Exercise Group at 9:30 a.m. at West Medford Community Center Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Walking and other self-led, low-impact activities.
Senior Social Service Office Hours with Nike Gregory Elwell from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. with Nike Gregory for seniors ages 60+ to learn about resources for help with housing, food, energy costs and more. Drop-in.
Social Service Office Hours with Jason Stone from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Medford Public Library for Medford residents to get help and resources for mental health, grief, substance use, housing, food, heating. Stone is the Medford social services coordinator.
Storytime at Moon and Back Bookstore at 10:30 a.m. Today's book will be "You Can Sit with Me," by Rachel Tawil Kenyon and illustrated by Tatiana Kamshilina.
Paddle Boston – Medford from 12 to 7 p.m. at the Condon Shell, weather permitting. Walk-up anytime to rent a boat. Limited advanced reservations also available. Last boat goes out at 6 p.m. All boats must be returned by 7 p.m.
Tech Help Drop In Hour at 2 p.m. at Medford Public Library. Librarians will be on hand to help you with anything tech related.
