Today, the Medford Senior Center, now known as MSC, is kicking off a 5-day open house in honor of Senior Center Month, which is September. Monday-Friday, Sept. 21-25, everyone is welcome to stop in from 9 a.m. through 4 p.m. and see what the center has to offer. There will be free exercise classes and programs for new participants, and coffee and refreshments will be available.
In July, Chris Stevens took a look at the rebranding of the Medford Senior Center to MSC. The idea was to have less of a focus on the word "senior" and to have more emphasis on people staying active and being social as they age. This week's open house is a good opportunity for people who have been reluctant to visit the center.
Also today, the schools are closed in recognition of Yom Kippur. However, the Mustangs have a few games, which are listed in the calendar below. And, heads-up, there are several meetings this week regarding the high school building project:
- The Construction Manager at Risk Selection Subcommittee meets tomorrow at 4 p.m.
- The full High School Building Committee meets tomorrow evening at 7 p.m.
- The Sustainability & MEP Advisory Team meets on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
Stories dropping today
Here's what we've got lined up for you today:
- Chris Stevens writes about the City Council's passing a resolution calling for the release of a Medford man who was allegedly abducted by ICE while trying to get home from Atlanta, Georgia.
- Crystal has an update on what's happening with the controversy surrounding the City Council's Values Aligned Local Investments Ordinance and the lawsuit that was filed against it.
