Planting day for the Tufts Park mini-forest is coming up on Saturday, and Trees Medford is still taking sign-ups for volunteers. The site was prepped earlier this year, and now it is time to plant the trees and shrubs. No experience is necessary and all ages are welcome to help out.

Plantings will focus on native species, including sugar maples, oaks, and hickories. Trees Medford has volunteers signing up for time slots so the work is spread out through the day. Click here to sign up.
A word about a few of the meetings taking place today, and then we've got a full calendar for you.
The Energy and Environment Committee will be looking at a number of projects they have in the works concerning black plastics, data centers, rodenticides, and trees.
The School Committee has a full agenda this evening, and one of the items up for discussion is an honors pilot for career technical education.
And, the Historical Commission will discuss the American Legion building on Winthrop Street as a potential future project.

Outdoor Play with Cindy from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Magoun Park for children of all ages and caregivers. Interactive activities include circle time, problem solving activities, games we used to play.
Drop In Playtime from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Medford Family Network Family Center.
Circle Time Story Time at 11 a.m. at Medford Public Library with Medford Family Network. Art, music and movement, sing-along and storytelling for children ages 2-5. Registration required.
Mindfulness Practice at 11 a.m. at Medford Public Library with Jess Dudzinska. Session includes a brief topic related to mindfulness and compassion, a guided practice, and optional reflection.
Tufts Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging hosts a virtual program open to all from 12 to 1 p.m. Talk followed by a Q&A.
Monday Meditation from 12 to 1 p.m. at the Tufts Interfaith Center with the school's Buddhist community. No experience necessary and all are welcome.
Fuse Beads at 3:30 p.m. at Medford Public Library for teens in middle school and high school to use beads to design whatever they like. All materials will be provided.
Pet Rocks at 3:30 p.m. at Medford Public Library for kids ages 5+ to make a pet rock to take home.
Clay & Play Creations from 4 to 5 p.m. on Mondays at Arts Collaborative Medford for kids in grades 3-5. A series of six sessions for kids to design and make their own bookmarks, magnets, pendants, keychains, earrings, and rings while learning basic clay techniques. Registration required.
