Happy Monday, everyone. And, to all the students, welcome back! We hope you had a wonderful vacation. Today, we've got some important reminders and a rundown on what's happening in Medford.

It's going to be sunny and warm today for the students' return from school vacation. We hope everyone had a nice break and that you're ready to get back to work.

We just have a few reminders this morning, and then we will get to today's events.

  • Street sweeping: Medford is in the midst of street-sweeping season and there will be parking restrictions. Heads-up for people in Zone 5: you're up for today and there will be no parking on the affected streets from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. To find your zone and to see the streets that will be affected, click here.
  • Casino Night: The Chamber of Commerce is throwing a party in honor of its 100th anniversary and 100 years of business in Medford. It is tomorrow, April 28, at the Great American Beer Hall, and you do not need to be a member of the Chamber to attend. Everyone is welcome. Learn more and get your tickets here.

On Saturday, May 2, make sure you pack snacks and water because you could have a very busy day:

  • Citywide cleanup: You still have time to sign up to pitch in Saturday, May 2, to help clean up trash and debris in a number of areas around Medford. Learn more and sign up here.
  • Electronics and Textile Recycling: This event is also taking place Saturday, May 2 and is a fundraiser for the PTOs of the McGlynn and Andrews middle schools. Learn more here.
  • Annual Medford Youth Summit: This is also taking place on Saturday for students ages 14-18 to explore work and community service opportunities and attend career workshops. Learn more and register here.

Circle time Story Time at 9:30 a.m. at Medford Public Library. Hosted by Medford Family Network. For children up to 2 years old. Registration Required.

Drop-In Play Time at Medford Family Network Family Center from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Senior Center Activities: Dominoes/cribbage at 10 a.m.; Gentle Yoga with Rosa at 10 a.m.; Poetry with Robert at 10:30 a.m.; Al-Anon support group at 10:30 a.m.; Chair Yoga with Rosa at 11 a.m.; whist for all levels at 12:30 p.m.; country line dancing at 12:45 p.m.; Joyful Voices Chorus with Zofia Tamburini at 2 p.m., all are welcome.

Sneak Preview of "Cohort One" - The TUPIT Film at 6 p.m. in Barnum Hall at Tufts. Documentary follows three formerly incarcerated men, Kentel, David and Nathan, as they journey from prison cells to campus classrooms through the Tufts University Prison Initiative of Tisch College (TUPIT).

Medford Comprehensive High School Building Committee meeting at 6:30 p.m. at the high school and via Zoom. On the agenda: review updates of the 6 designs being considered; resolution to put in place guidelines for how cost estimates are done; space change proposals; public comments.

Adult Ed Book Club meets at 7:30 p.m. at Temple Shalom Medford.
