Crossing Paths: Positive encounters around town
"Crossing Paths" is a new feature where you can share those little encounters you have around Medford that put a smile on your face or that otherwise have a positive impact on you.
Crossing Paths is the brainchild of Medford resident Sue Fowler-Finn as a way to share those little encounters you have around Medford that put a smile on your face or that otherwise have a positive impact on you. Anyone is welcome to submit a positive encounter for publication. It can be one sentence or several paragraphs. Sue kicks this new GKM feature off with three of her own positive encounters.

- The crossing guard at Brooks School on High Street takes his job very seriously, and thank goodness for that. My husband and I know this about the guard because we moved within Medford a little over a year ago and now bike to Dugger Park during the week, down a hill crossing High Street past the guard. He is so attentive to all of his duties and makes sure cars stop so we can continue our travel. After a few days of this I told my husband that I loved the crossing guard, which he then told the guard. The guard yelled back to him, as we sped by, "I hope that you are all right with that." Now most days we say a quick hello, thanks, or have a good weekend, which the guard always appreciates.
- There is a small P.O. in West Medford. It is open only Mon-Fri. I love it! The postal worker always has fun comments and engaging chatter. I look forward to paying him for my packages and oversized letters.
- We had an edgeless shower installed by Arlmont Glass and Mirror. They did a wonderful job. We sit on our farmers porch in the early morning. For a number of months after we moved in, one young Arlmont worker would drive down our street and wave, honk, or flash his van's headlights – or all three! The three of us got a huge grin.
