When Gotta Know Medford stopped by the polls today, there weren't may people outside holding signs. GKM's Nell Escobar Coakley visited all of the polling locations in the city and only saw sign-holders at three of them. So, things seemed quiet.
We checked in with Medford Director of Elections Jim Blatchford this afternoon to see what the traffic looked like for in-person voting.
"It's been steady throughout the day," Blatchford said.
Blatchford said that in addition to people voting in-person today, people were still dropping off mail-in ballots, of which the city sent out over 7,000. When GKM called him a little after 3 p.m., Blatchford said the city had already received and processed over 5,000 of them since early voting began.
Blatchford said there have been no issues reported at the polls today.
"The worst problem I had was someone ran out of receipt paper for one of the machines," Blatchford said.
But, he said, that was resolved quickly.
"We've been very lucky," Blatchford said. "It's been a very good day."
The polls are open until 8 p.m. We will publish the election results as soon as we have them.
