Medford, Friday, Feb. 13
We're talkin' books, a drag show, music, and a senior Valentine's party. Here's a look at what's happening in Medford today
We have a yin-and-yang situation.
On the one hand, today is a Friday the 13th, a day celebrated by fans of horror films. Do you go for a vintage “Dracula” with Bella Lagosi, something contemporary like “Sinners,” or maybe a tongue-in-cheek ride a la “Saun of the Dead”? We’d love to know. Go to the Gotta Know Medford Facebook page to take our Frightfully Fun Poll.
On the other hand, tomorrow is Valentine’s Day, and also Galentine’s Day. A day to celebrate love and friendship in all its forms.

A couple things
Celebration at City Hall: Monday is Presidents’ Day and City Hall will be closed for business. However, there will be a celebration open to the public starting at 11 a.m. at City Hall. “Celebrating a Century of Black History Commemorations” is open to all and runs through 1:30 p.m. It will include music, food, visual arts, games and more.
Medford Open Studios call for artists: West Medford Open Studios is now part of Arts Collaborative Medford, which will host the first Medford Open Studios on June 20. There will be 10 group sites, most of which will be indoors, and artists may also register their Medford home/studio. We’ll have more information about the June 20 event as we get closer to that date. In the meantime, the call for artists/vendors is open until March 15. Here is a link to the application form.
