Good morning, Medford: Thursday, March 5
Democracy. That's what we're talkin' about. And, we have the scoop on the many events happening in Medford today. Good morning!
Democracy is a contact sport. It requires that we all participate, in whatever way we can, and to not be afraid to roll up our sleeves and speak our minds. And, it starts right here, with Medford's democracy.
A lot of Medford's official business takes place in the meetings of committees and boards, and there are many in the city that could use your help. So, you should have no trouble finding one that works on issues in which you're interested.
Take, for example, the Medford Energy and Environment Committee. I sat in on their meeting on March 2. They talked about assignments for climate action plan monitoring, how to get more people interested in growing pollinator gardens, and how to encourage local eateries to avoid black plastic food containers, which are often made from recycled electronics and contain dangerous chemicals.
Committees and boards are a great way to meet your neighbors, connect with like-minded individuals, and work on projects that make a difference and that keep democracy alive and kicking.
