We're starting off with news from the Police Department about a person being hit by a car yesterday, and then we have information from the city about Wreaths Across America.
Medford Police reported via Facebook yesterday that there was a hit-and-run and a pedestrian was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. They reported that it happened at approximately 5:20 a.m.
The post said, in part, "Officers located the pedestrian at the intersection of Harvard Street and Winchester Street with serious injuries. Based on the preliminary investigation, the pedestrian was walking westbound on Harvard Street and crossing Winchester Street in the crosswalk when they were struck by a vehicle turning left from Harvard Street onto Winchester Street."

Wreaths Across America will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery on Dec. 19, and city officials are hoping to have 375 wreaths placed at the gravestones of service members who are buried there.
Wreaths Across America is a national effort in which communities all over the country will participate. The event on Dec. 19 at Oak Grove Cemetery will be free and open to everyone. City officials are looking for people to help out on the day of the event and to sponsor wreaths during the months leading up to the event. Click here to volunteer or sponsor a wreath.

Playgroups at the Park - Dugger Park from 9 to 11 a.m. with Medford Family Network. There will be art, music, and movement activities, parachute play, storytelling, balls, and bubbles.
Mass General Brigham Community Care Van from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Clippership Drive Pop-Up Park. The van is staffed with multilingual and multicultural clinicians and support staff to provide screenings and interventions for chronic health issues.
Retirement Board meeting at 9:30 a.m. at City Hall. The board has a lengthy agenda, which includes: expense warrants, retirements, cash transfers, PRIT Fund, military service purchases, refunds to members, investment statements and fees, department requests, PERAC memos, NEPC investment performance, hearings as needed, meetings with members and retirees, and meetings with vendors and money managers.
Toddler Time at 10:30 a.m. at Medford Public Library for children ages 2-3 to read books, sing songs, and learn gentle movement exercises.
Senior Knitting Club at 1 p.m. at West Medford Community Center. Beginners can learn from experienced crafters.
Farmers Market – Dog Days from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Condon Shell. In addition to the line-up of produce, meats, fish, baked goods, beverages and artisan crafts, there will be vendors selling items for dogs, and there will be a kids activity area and a neighboring beer garden. Also, the Kitty Connection will be at the community table to talk about their work rescuing and finding homes for cats. Live music will be: Kier Byrnes & the Kettle Burners from 3 to 5 p.m.; The Beagles from 5 to 7 p.m. performing songs about dogs.
Teen Manga Drop In Book Club at 3:30 p.m. at Medford Public Library for teens to talk about their favorite manga series and watch anime clips.
Construction Leadership Council cornhole tournament from 5 to 8 p.m. at The Great American Beer Hall. Associated General Contractors of Mass. annual tournament for young professionals. Follow link for registration for AGC members and non-members and for participants and observers.
ESOL Student Celebration from 6 to 8 at Medford Public Library to celebrate the end of the ESOL semester with Medford Connects and Medford Public Library language teachers, volunteers, and students. Light refreshments provided.
Shadowbox Museum Craft Night from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Medford Public Library for teens in middle school and high school to create their own shadowbox museum. Materials will be provided, but teens are welcome to bring artwork or photos to display in their shadowbox. Registration required.
Zoning Board of Appeals meeting at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom. Agenda includes a number of public hearings on cases, including 1-3 Vassar St., 12 Wellesley St., 501 High St., 26 Second St., 73 Surrey St.
Medford Connects ESOL class from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Medford Public Library with Medford Connectors and instructor Karrie Peterson. Registration required.
