The Mystic River Celebration that was scheduled for this weekend at the Condon Shell has been canceled because heavy rains and high winds are forecast for both Saturday and Sunday.
However, as of 1 a.m. this morning, Run Medford 2026 was still a go. Because of the rain, the location for the Friday evening registration, packet pickup, and Kids Fun Runs has changed. Registration begins at 4 p.m. at Medford High School, and the Kids Fun Runs will take place in the high school gym beginning at 5:15 p.m.
The Saturday road races will still step off from City Hall from 7:45 to 8:15 a.m. The post-race celebration begins at 8:30 a.m.
Road closures begin at 7:30 a.m.:
- Salem Street: full closure from Route 60 rotary to Forest Street
- High Street: westbound closure: from Forest Street to Winthrop Circle
- Winthrop Street: westbound closure from Winthrop circle to Lawrence Road
- Lawrence Road: eastbound closure from Winthrop Street to Forest Street
- Forest Street: southbound closure from Lawrence Road to Salem Street
- Riverside Avenue: full closure from Ring Road/Clippership Avenue to Medford Square
- City Hall Mall: full closure
- Atrius Health Parking Garage: no access
- Governors Avenue: full closure from Lawrence Road to High Street
The roads will be reopened on a rolling basis between 8:45 and 9:45 a.m.

Senior Center Activities: Walking Club at 9:30 a.m.; Veterans Coffee Hour at 10 a.m.; Latin dance with Judit at 10:30 a.m.; Haitian Senior Social at 1:30 p.m.
- Australian Outback Celebration from 12 to 3 p.m. featuring music, food, and history of Australia. Entertainment by DJ George, door prizes, and a 50/50 raffle. (The regular lunch will be grab-and-go today.)
Sisters in Sweat Exercise Group at 9:30 a.m. at West Medford Community Center. Walking and other low-impact activities for seniors.
Medford Family Network: Registration is required for the two Circle Time Story Times happening at Medford Public Library – ages 0-2 years at 9:30 a.m. and ages 2-5 at 11 a.m. Drop-in play times are both at 10 a.m., one inside at the MFN Family Center and one outside at Magoun Park with Miss Cindy.
Medford Public Library: Only three events are scheduled for today – Notary Drop-in from 10 to 11 a.m., The Poetry Connect with Vijaya Sundaram (register) from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., and the Friends of Medford Public Library book sale preview (members only) from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Go Mustangs! There are only two games today, both away: freshman boys soccer at Billerica Memorial and varsity boys football at Woburn Memorial.
House Band Final Friday Family Music Night at 7 p.m. at School of Rock Medford.
Graham Hunt with Tanner York perform beginning at 7 p.m. at Deep Cuts.
Terry Fator – Pure Imagination: Once Upon a Voice at 7:30 p.m. at the Chevalier Theatre. The Las Vegas headliner performs impressions, comedy, and ventriloquism.

Tufts Women in Tech 2026 Conference from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Joyce Cummings Center at Tufts. Panel discussions, hands-on workshops, networking and a career fair. RSVP
- Beginner Knitting 2.0 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for adults and teens 13+. Register, and there is homework to do before class.
