Welcome to Friday, everybody. It's time for the monster GKM three-day calendar. We hope you all have a great weekend.

Just a quick reminder about road closures and bus detours for Saturday, and then we'll get right to the three-day calendar, which is packed with events and activities.

The Medford Chamber's Oktoberfest is taking place on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. Road closures will take place, however, from morning until evening for set-up and clean-up. Riverside Avenue will be closed from the intersection with Salem Street to where you can turn off to City Hall Mall. In addition, some bus routes will be detoured.

Friday, October 2

Breakfast Social with Jenny Graham (Medford School Committee) at 8:15 a.m. at Bistro 489 at Medford High School.

Senior Center Activities: Walking Club at 9:30 a.m.; Veterans Coffee Hour at 10 a.m.; Latin dance with Judit at 10:30 a.m.; Chinese/English class at 11:30 a.m.

  • Senior (60+) flu and COVID clinic from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Call to register, 781-396-6010. Wear a short-sleeve shirt to your appointment.

Sisters in Sweat Exercise Group at 9:30 a.m. at West Medford Community Center. Walking and other low-impact activities for seniors.

  • Registration is required for the two Circle Time Story Times happening at Medford Public Library: ages 0-2 years at 9:30 a.m.; ages 2-5 at 11 a.m.
  • There is no drop-in playtime today, and registration has closed for the two playgroups.

Frontiers of Democracy 2026: "The United States at 250: Meeting the Moment for Democracy, in the U.S. and Around the World" beginning at 5 p.m. in the Joyce Cummings Center at Tufts. This is a three-day conference that runs Oct. 2-4. Preregistration is closed, but there is limited same-day registration.

Strange Pains Vinyl Release Show, with Ivy Boy and Old Horse, beginning at 7 p.m. at Deep Cuts.

Tufts Composers: Goethe Quartet performance at 7 p.m. in the Granoff Music Center at Tufts.

Passport Friday from 8 p.m. until closing at The Great American Beer Hall. Brazilian house music with DJ Camilla Fialho.

Saturday, October 3

Paddle Boston – Medford 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays at the Condon Shell, weather permitting. Last boat goes out at 5 p.m.

Medford Public Library has a mix of drop-in and registration-required events.

Medford Craft Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at City Hall to benefit the Senior Center.

Medford Family Network: Playground Meetup for Caregivers of Neurodiverse Children at 11 a.m. at McGlynn Elementary playground. Registration required.

Medford Chamber of Commerce Oktoberfest from noon to 4 p.m. in Medford Square featuring music, food, demonstrations, a pet costume parade, local businesses and organizations, and more.

Fall Cider Tasting from 12 to 4 p.m. at The Great American Beer Hall.

Royall House & Slave Quarters is open from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through Oct. 31 for tours and viewing the exhibits

Sunday, October 4

Stop Scrolling & Start Sketching (Family Edition) at 9:30 a.m. at Arts Collaborative Medford. This is the first in a series of four sessions. Registration required.

The Geologic History and Quarries of Southern Middlesex Fells from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. A guided walk. Meet at Bellevue Pond parking lot. Registration required.

Citywide Yard Sale and Lemonade Stands from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. all over Medford. View the interactive map and the list to see all the locations.

Mystic Walkers at 11 a.m. at Hormel Stadium. All ages and abilities are welcome to join. The group will decide where the walk will go.

Kier Byrnes Freedom Runners at 11 a.m. starting at Medford Brewing. Choose from several different loops or create your own. All are welcome.

Tufts Community Day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Academic Quad (labeled as "The Green" in Google Maps). Everyone is welcome for a celebration that includes live performances, kids activities, food, community groups and resources.

Brooks School Fall Festival from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This is the 11th Annual Brooks Elementary PTO fundraiser, and it is open to all. There will be rides, games, crafts, raffles, a silent auction, food and music. Organizers encourage everyone to purchase tickets in advance.

Hillside Community Church Coffee & Connection from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. A low-key coffee hour following worship — a chance to share some snacks, sip something warm, and have real conversation with folks you might not have met yet.

First Baptist Church Coffee Hour at 12 p.m. Informal coffee hour in Memorial Hall following services.

St. Raphael Parish Coffee Hour in the courtyard following the morning masses the first Sunday of every month. An opportunity for parishioners and visitors to enjoy coffee and Munchins and to connect with friends new and old. .

Medford Historical Society and Museum is open on Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. Current exhibit is, "1776 and beyond," but there are also many other resources to explore.
