Arts Collaborative Medford will present "Ghost Light," an exhibition featuring musicians Sam Kassirer and Josh Ritter as they step away from the stage and into the roles of photographer and visual artist. Bringing together Kassirer’s photographs and Ritter’s drawings, the exhibition offers intimate glimpses into the spaces, moments, and impressions that exist just beyond performance.
The exhibition takes its name from the theater tradition of the ghost light: a single light left burning on an otherwise empty stage after the audience has gone and the curtain has fallen. Both practical and symbolic, the light marks a space that is temporarily empty while acknowledging that something remains.
In "Ghost Light," Kassirer and Ritter explore this space between presence and absence through two distinct visual practices. Their work considers what lingers after a performance—the traces of people, places, experiences, and emotions that remain when the moment itself has passed. Together, the photographs and drawings invite viewers to slow down and consider what we leave behind,
what we carry with us, and what stays with us after the lights go down.
The exhibition will be on view from September 18 through November 7. The opening reception will take place in two sessions on Friday, Sept. 18. One will begin at 6:30 p.m. and the other will start at 7:45 p.m. Registration is required.
