Samia Bennett, who is the Special Projects Coordinator and Youth/Families Connector for the city of Medford, reached out to GKM with information about a program called Caregiver University and asked us to share it with the community.
The program is run through Medford Public Schools and features a series of free presentations. Caregiver University kicks off its fall season with a presentation by Dr. Elizabeth Englander, "The Social World of Kids: Screens, Friendships & Mental Health," tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom.
However, some of the presentations will be in-person. For example, "Let's Get Organized!" will take place on Oct. 20 in the High School auditorium, and "Screenagers: Generation AI" will be held Oct. 29 in the McGlynn auditorium.
The program's stated purpose is: "Caregiver University empowers families with accessible, practical knowledge and skills that strengthen caregivers’ capacity to support their students’ health, safety, and overall success."

There are three meetings on the schedule for today, and two of them start at 4 p.m. You'll also see that the Hispanic Heritage Month celebration begins at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall.
Munipical meetings
- Board of Assessors: 4 p.m. in City Hall and via Zoom. Agenda includes motor vehicle abatements, FY27 boat excise commitment, FY27 personal and CPA exemptions and deferral applications, FY27 valuation update, and executive session to to review abatement applications and settlement agreements.
- High School Building Committee Construction Manager at Risk Prequalification Subcommittee: 4 p.m. at the high school. Two companies will be interviewed – BOND Building & W.T. Rich Joint Venture and Suffolk Construction.
- City Council Committee of the Whole: 6 p.m. in City Hall and via Zoom, TV, and streaming channels. Agenda includes Zoning Ordinance updates and consultant RFP.

Senior Center Activities: Tech and MBTA support at 9 a.m. – call to reserve your spot, 781-396-6010; zumba gold at 10 a.m.; Thai chi at 11 a.m.; bingo at 1 p.m.; movie at 1 p.m.; Rep. Paul Donato will be at the Senior Center today beginning at 10:30 a.m. to meet with seniors.
Medford Square Runners meet at 6:45 a.m. in front of Donuts with a Difference for a 5-6-mile run. This is a zero-drop run, meaning the group runs for a little bit and then stops to let everybody catch up if necessary. Group asks that all runners are able to keep a minimum pace of 10 minutes per mile.
Medford Family Network: All three playgroups today are closed for registration. However, you can still register for Dad's Night Out, which will be at the Ford Tavern.
Sisters in Sweat Exercise Group at 9:30 a.m. at West Medford Community Center Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Walking and other self-led, low-impact activities for seniors.
Storytime at Moon and Back Bookstore at 10:30 a.m. Today's book will be "Gruffalo Granny," by Julia Donaldson, illustrated by Axel Scheffler.

Community Meeting On The Clean Energy Transformation at 5:30 p.m. in the Aidekman Arts Center at Tufts, hosted by the Mass. Office of Energy Transformation. Learn about the state's clean energy plan and goals. Food and refreshments will be provided. Registration required.

Boston Frisbee Wednesday Nights Under the Lights from 6 to 8 p.m. at Tufts Park. Ultimate Frisbee game open to everyone, and nobody keeps score.
Medford Community Chorale rehearsals from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church Medford. Youth/Young Adult Chorus begins at 6 p.m. Full Chorus begins at 7 p.m No auditions required; the only requirement is a love of singing. New members are always welcome.
Trivia at the Ford Tavern from 7 to 9 p.m. From pop culture to sports, history to music. Prizes will be awarded.
Make + Mingle Open Studio from 7 to 9 p.m. at Arts Collaborative Medford. Free drop-in for anybody to create among other artists and artist-types. Bring your own materials. RSVP appreciated.
