At this point, when we hear the weather forecast, we put our fingers in our ears and sing, "La la la la la la ..." I am a crusty old New Englander, and I like the cold and the snow. But, I am ready for spring. Nell and Chris are, too. How about you?

So, let's talk about some spring-ish things.

Frisbee, for example. Did you know there is a professional ultimate Frisbee team co-owned by a Medford resident that plays its home games at Hormel Stadium? Luke Johnson, who is pictured in today's feature photo, is co-owner of the Boston Glory. The Glory compete nationwide and in Canada, and last year they won their first league title.

Kathryn Kellett, who is also a co-owner, says the team's athletes do a lot in the community for kids and as members of the Medford Chamber of Commerce.

"Our athletes ran Ultimate Frisbee clinics for more than 4,000 kids last year," Kellett said. "We're growing our sport a little at a time."

Tickets are only $25 each ($15 if you get the early bird), and there's a Kids Club for ages 12 and under. the first games at Hormel are on April 25 and May 2.

Plants, and their colorful flowers, for another example. Crocuses and snow drops are probably blooming in a garden near you. Daffodils will be right behind them, and then tulips.

If you go hiking, keep your eyes peeled for Dutchman's breeches, red trillium, and Jack in the pulpit. Mass Audubon has some good information about these.
