The Harvest Your Energy Festival is coming up on Oct. 17. We are mentioning it now because there will be an opportunity for you to get rid of some hard-to-recycle items. Green Team Junk Removal will be on site to take mattresses, air conditioners, toilets, lawn mowers, Styrofoam, electronics, and more.
There will be a cost to dispose of these items. Here is a list, with the price per item:

Monday, Oct. 12 is Indigenous Peoples' Day/Columbus Day. City Hall, the Senior Center, and the schools will be closed.

- Energy Bill Check-Up with National Grid and ABCD from 1 to 4 p.m. Call 781-396-6010 to reserve your seat. Learn about options to lower your energy bills. National Grid Consumer Advocates will explain options and help you determine eligibility for assistance, including the discount rate, payment plan, budget plan, and Arrears Management Program. ABCD representatives will provide information about fuel assistance and other energy savings programs.
Mass General Brigham Community Care Van from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Clippership Drive Pop-Up Park. The van is staffed with multilingual and multicultural clinicians and support staff to provide screenings and interventions for chronic health issues.
- Costume Swap: During drop-in playtimes at the MFN Family Center, Medford residents can drop off costumes, accessories, and dress-up clothes their kids no longer use and pick up "new" items.
- Drop-In Playtime is from 1 to 3 p.m. at the MFN family Center.
- Kids activities at the Farmers Market are hosted by MFN at the Condon Shell from 3 to 6 p.m.
- Registration is closed for both of today's playgroups.
Senior Knitting Club at 1 p.m. at West Medford Community Center. Beginners can learn from experienced crafters.
