Before we get to today's events and activities, we're talking about noise, a kind of noise that is causing some Medford residents to lose sleep.

We will be dropping a story this morning that looks at an issue many neighborhoods are grappling with, noise.

Chris Stevens attended the first of the City's Council's planned ward meetings to foster better communication between residents and the council to address issues.

The first meeting was for Ward 1, where some residents don't know how to resolve an issue that literally keeps them up at night: A vehicle with a very loud exhaust system is being fired up and driven around at all hours.

Senior Center Activities: whist at 10:30 a.m.; Core and Balance at 10:30 a.m.; conversational English at 11 a.m.; Art for Everyone at 1:30 p.m.

  • Monthly Book Club at 1 p.m. facilitated by Michael Hickey. The group will discuss "Eat Your Ice Cream," by Ezekiel J. Emanuel. And, the books for the next club meeting will be handed out: "Goldfinch," by Donna Tartt. Call to reserve your spot, 781-396-6010.

Mass General Brigham Community Care Van from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Clippership Drive Pop-Up Park. The van is staffed with multilingual and multicultural clinicians and support staff to provide screenings and interventions for chronic health issues.

Medford Family Network:

  • MFN is running an ongoing Costume Swap during drop-in playtimes at the MFN Family Center. Medford residents can drop off costumes, accessories, and dress-up clothes their kids no longer use and pick up "new" items.
  • Both playgroups today are full, and there is no drop-in playtime.

The Shoreline Is Moving. Should We? from 12 to 1 p.m. in Curtis Hall at Tufts. This talk explores one of the most controversial topics in climate adaptation: relocating people, infrastructure, and development away from areas at greatest risk. RSVP.

Voices for Peace and Light Choir Rehearsal from 12:10 to 1:10 p.m. in Goddard Chapel at Tufts. All are welcome.

Senior Knitting Club at 1 p.m. at West Medford Community Center. Beginners can learn from experienced crafters.

Medford Farmers Market Apple Fest from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Condon Shell featuring an apple bake-off, apple cider and other apple products, plus produce, meats, fish, baked goods, beverages, and artisan crafts, a kids activity area, face painting, and a neighboring beer garden. Live music will be: Justin Talarico from 3 to 5 p.m.; Kier Byrnes from 5 to 7 p.m.

Splash! from 6 to 9 p.m. at Arts Collaborative Medford. Event includes a silent auction, a $150 small-works sale, music, and food to celebrate ACM's three years of "creative impact in Medford." Sip into Fall with Mark the Wine Guy from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Kappy's Medford. Purchase tickets in advance.

Singer Songwriter Night: Melodies on Tap from 7 to 10 p.m. at Medford Brewing.

GAYC/DC and She Pop perform live beginning at 7 p.m. at Deep Cuts.

Neighborhood Dog performs live from 8 to 11 p.m. on the main stage at The Great American Beer Hall.
