Good morning, Medford, Thursday, March 19
Love is in the air in today's newsletter. We've got a shout-out to a Medford 6th-grader, the scoop on the egg dash, and some events to check out.
The Massachusetts Partnerships for Youth (MPY) holds an annual poster contest, and this year a Medford student took home a first-place prize.
So, a shout-out to Nora Shaw!
The Andrews Middle School 6th-grader won in the middle school category for her poster featuring a multi-colored heart and the words, “Kind People are My Kind of People.”
There were 151 entries from 33 school districts, and only 10 prizes were awarded. One first place was awarded in each of three categories: elementary school, middle school, and high school. There were also honorable mentions in each of those categories.
This year’s theme was, “Kind People Are the Best Kind of People,” which “focused on the importance of showing compassion, care and understanding to everyone, including oneself.”
MPY provides training, fosters collaboration, and develops programming to increase the health and safety of students, and its board includes school superintendents, police and fire chiefs, and other community leaders. Visit massachusettspartnershipsforyouth.com to learn more.
