The city of Medford has entered into a three-year contract agreement with ambulance provider Cataldo Ambulance Service.
Cataldo will be providing all basic and advanced lifesaving ambulance emergency response coverage for the city, beginning at 7 a.m. on Jan. 19.
“The team at Cataldo have been providing exemplary emergency medical services to cities and towns throughout the Commonwealth and I’m eager to work together to ensure our residents have access to the best emergency services possible,” Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn said. “This partnership strengthens our emergency response system while also allowing us to better address mental health and substance use crises with compassion, care, and the right resources.”
In addition to providing life and safety support, Cataldo will work in collaboration with the city to establish a Behavioral Support Unit to assist with mental health and substance use emergency calls.
Cataldo will also provide 21 new Automated External Defibrillators to the Fire Department and six to the Medford Public Schools.
“Emergency calls require a rapid, professional response system that work seamlessly in conjunction with our fire and police departments,” Medford Fire Chief Todd Evans said. “Throughout my meetings with the staff at Cataldo, I’ve been impressed with their work ethic, commitment to operational efficiency and dedication to delivering high quality care in pressure packed situations.”
“I want to extend a heartfelt thanks to Mayor Luongo-Kohen and the members of her public safety team for the opportunity to serve the City of Medford,” said Dennis Cataldo, president and CEO of Cataldo Ambulance Service. “Our entire organization is remarkably proud of the trust and confidence you have shown in selecting Cataldo Ambulance as your emergency ambulance provider. We are confident in our ability to meet or exceed the expectations of the residents and all those that work, play, and visit this historic community.”
